Most Phoenix decks can. The concrete underneath must be sound, and any failed coating on top must be removable or repairable.
Good candidates: faded or chalky cool deck, old Kool Deck that is worn but still bonded, plain broom-finish concrete, decks with hairline or surface cracks, and decks where the color or texture is simply dated.
Needs repair first, then resurfacing: flaking or hollow-sounding areas, spalling around the pool edge, pitted concrete from years of chlorinated water, and drainage low spots that hold water after a storm.

Color is the biggest decision you make, and it is a heat decision as much as a style one. Light sand, cream, and pale gray reflect the most sun and get you closest to the "up to 30°F cooler" figure. Mid-tone tans and grays still run cooler than bare concrete but give up some of that margin. Dark charcoal and deep browns look sharp and get hot; we install them, but we say so first.
Texture depth is the second choice. A fuller lace gives more grip around the pool; a tighter, smoother lace is easier on chair legs in a dining area. Many decks get both, with the change hidden at a natural break.

A properly prepared acrylic cool deck lasts 10–12 years in the Phoenix Valley before it needs a fresh color coat. Poor preparation, constant water exposure from sprinklers or shade that never dries, dark colors in full sun, close-range pressure washing, and slab movement push that toward 5–7. Maintenance is light: rinse off pool chemical splash, keep deck drains clear, and skip the pressure washer at close range. When the surface starts to look chalky or the color goes flat, a re-seal or a new color coat over the existing texture is a one-day job and far cheaper than starting over.

10–12 years is typical on a properly prepared deck. Poor preparation, constant water exposure, dark colors in full sun, close-range pressure washing, and slab movement can shorten that to 5–7. Keeping drains clear and re-sealing when the surface starts to look chalky extends it.
Application takes 1–2 days on most residential decks. Light foot traffic is fine after 24–48 hours. Furniture, planters, and full use wait for the 3–7 day cure, longer in cool or humid weather.
Yes. Cracks are cleaned, filled, and blended before the texture coat, so hairline and surface cracks disappear. Cracks caused by ongoing slab movement can reappear over time. If we see that on your deck, we say so in the written estimate instead of promising they are gone for good.
The spray-applied lace texture gives noticeably better traction than a smooth coating, but any pool deck can be slippery when wet. We can adjust texture depth: fuller for bare feet around the pool, smoother for patio dining areas.
