That's normal: an acrylic cool deck coating typically lasts 10–12 years, or 5–7 in harsh full-sun spots. We repair the cracks, strip anything peeling, and recoat. If the original Kool Deck texture is still bonded, the new acrylic system goes right over it after repair.

Probably close. A coating from that era has seen more than ten Arizona summers, which is the typical life of an acrylic cool deck surface. Signs it's due: color that chalks off on your hand, bare spots at the steps, and cracks that hold dirt.
