Pool Decks in Avondale Take a Beating. We Fix Them.

Avondale is our home base — our business address is here, so an Avondale deck is the shortest drive on our calendar. The housing here covers every age: the older homes around Old Town and Western Avenue, Garden Lakes' late-80s lake lots, 2000s builds in Coldwater Springs and Rancho Santa Fe, and brand-new homes in Alamar. That range means Avondale decks need everything from a first coating on bare builder concrete to a full strip and resurface.

Avondale sits under 1,000 feet, where the Agua Fria meets the Gila — low, flat, and open to the afternoon sun, so an uncoated slab soaks up heat all day and gives it back well into the evening. A heat-reflective acrylic surface — up to 30°F cooler than bare concrete — is the difference between a deck you use and a deck you avoid all summer.

Local Knowledge

Where We Work in Avondale

Avondale sits under 1,000 feet, where the Agua Fria meets the Gila — low, flat, and open to the afternoon sun, so an uncoated slab soaks up heat all day and gives it back well into the evening.

Garden Lakes

Built 1987–1992 around two man-made lakes. Decks this age usually need crack repair and a full recoat, not a touch-up.

Coldwater Springs

Early-2000s homes now about two decades in — the age where coatings wear through at the steps and along the coping.

Rancho Santa Fe

Late-90s and 2000s homes and villas, many still on their first or second deck surface.

Old Town Avondale

The original town center along Western Avenue. Older slabs get an honest look before anything is quoted.

Alamar

Avondale's newest master-planned community. Decks aren't due yet, but a plain broom-finish builder slab is the easiest surface there is to coat.

Common Questions

Resurfacing in Avondale — Questions We Hear

Are you actually based in Avondale?

Yes. Avondale is our home base and our business address. For an Avondale job that means no trip charge, a short drive out for the estimate, and a crew that can be on your deck at first light in summer, when coatings go down best.

Our Garden Lakes deck is original to the house — resurface it or tear it out?

A deck from 1987–1992 is more than 30 years old, so expect cracking and probably a few generations of patches. The slab under all that is often still sound, and then resurfacing is the right call: we strip what has failed, repair the cracks, and put a new surface over solid concrete. If a section has settled or heaved, we tell you at the estimate and quote replacing only that section.

We just moved into Alamar — is there anything worth doing to the deck now?

Resurfacing, no. A new deck doesn't need it. What is worth doing early: make sure water drains away from the house instead of ponding on the slab, rinse chlorinated splash-out off the concrete, and if the builder left plain concrete, price a heat-reflective coating before your first full summer. Bare, cured concrete is the simplest prep there is.

Does my Avondale HOA have to approve a new deck color?

Often, yes. Most of Avondale's planned communities have an HOA, and many require architectural approval for exterior changes a neighbor can see. Check your CC&Rs first. We supply the written scope and physical color samples your review committee asks for, so the approval doesn't hold up the schedule.

How long does pool deck resurfacing take?

Most residential decks are 1–2 days of work: prep and repairs the first day, coating and color the second. You can walk on it in 24–48 hours; give it 3–7 days to fully cure before dragging furniture back.

Is resurfacing better than replacing the concrete?

If the slab is structurally sound, yes — resurfacing costs a fraction of demolition and re-pour, and it's done in days instead of weeks. If the slab is badly heaved or sinking, we'll tell you straight and quote what actually fixes it.
