Cool Deck Resurfacing in Phoenix, AZ
Cool deck is the classic Arizona pool surface for a reason: it stays up to 30°F cooler than bare concrete, so you can actually walk to the pool barefoot in July. We restore worn Kool Deck and install new acrylic cool deck systems over existing concrete.

A Real Surface, Not a Cover-Up
A cool deck for your pool is an acrylic coating with a textured finish — usually acrylic lace — that reflects heat instead of storing it. If your original cool deck is chipping, faded, or patched past its prime, we resurface right over it after proper repairs. Quoted per project from the actual surface; free written estimates.
Phoenix is where we do more pool decks than anywhere else. From Ahwatukee's 1980s originals to Arcadia remodels and the newer builds up in Norterra, the story is the same: the desert sun eats pool deck surfaces, and the urban heat island downtown makes bare concrete even hotter than in the suburbs.
Cool Deck Resurfacing in Phoenix, Step by Step
Surface Assessment
We check how much of the old cool deck is still bonded, where it's failing, and why — usually water or slab movement.
Strip & Repair
Loose material comes off, cracks get filled, hollow spots get fixed. The new coating needs solid concrete under it.
Acrylic Lace Application
We spray the classic lace texture that gives cool deck its grip and its heat-shedding surface.
Color Coat & Seal
Color throughout plus UV-stable sealer, so it doesn't chalk out after two summers.
What You Get With Every Project
Up to 30°F Cooler
The whole point of a cool deck — comfortable barefoot even in 110°F weather.

Where We Work in Phoenix
Phoenix's urban heat island pushes surface temperatures higher than the surrounding suburbs — bare concrete downtown can be painful by mid-morning in summer.
Ahwatukee
1980s–2000s builds where original Kool Deck is routinely decades past its coating life.

Ranch-era homes and remodel-grade expectations — finishes have to match the rest of the house.

Moon Valley's 70s–80s originals plus Desert Ridge and Norterra's 2000s builds.

Newer subdivisions where builder-grade decks are hitting their first resurfacing cycle.
Central Phoenix & Encanto
Historic-district homes with older slabs that need honest repair work before any coating.
Cool Deck Resurfacing in Phoenix — Questions We Hear
What's the difference between Kool Deck and cool deck?
Kool Deck is a specific brand name from the 1960s; “cool deck” is what everyone in Arizona calls the whole category of heat-reflective acrylic pool deck coatings. We repair and resurface both — the modern acrylic systems we install bond over properly prepared original Kool Deck.
Does cool deck really stay cooler?
Yes — up to 30°F cooler than bare concrete in direct sun. The acrylic reflects heat instead of absorbing it. It's the difference between running to the pool on your toes and just walking there.
Can you match my existing cool deck color?
Usually, yes. We carry the standard Arizona palette — creams, sands, adobe tones — and blend to get close to what you have. If you're resurfacing the whole deck, you can also take the chance to change it completely.
Do I need a permit to resurface a pool deck in Phoenix?
Resurfacing an existing deck is normally maintenance — no permit — since we're not changing the structure, the pool, or the barriers. If your project grows into new decking footprint or barrier changes, that's a different conversation and we'll flag it during the estimate.
Which Phoenix neighborhoods do you serve?
All of them — Ahwatukee, Arcadia, Biltmore, North Phoenix, Desert Ridge, Moon Valley, Laveen, South Mountain, Central Phoenix, and everything in between. We're based in the West Valley, so Phoenix is home turf.
How does Phoenix summer heat affect the work?
In June through September we start early — coatings have application temperature windows, and a 115°F slab isn't in them. Morning starts mean the acrylic cures right and you're swimming again on schedule. Winter is actually prime resurfacing season in Phoenix.
